Raymond Racine – South Burlington Raymond Sylva Racine, 91, of Allenwood Senior Housing in South Burlington, passed peacefully on Monday, October 15th at Vermont Respite House following a two-year battle with cancer. He was born on September 22nd, 1927 in New Bedford, MA, the son of Eugene and Melinda Davignon Racine. He was a graduate of Burlington High School, Class of 1945. On October 28th, 1947, he married Gertrude Stokes, who was the love of his life. He worked a number of roles at Goss Doge, Inc. for over 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, but mostly spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Gertrude, his children and their spouses, Wayne and Cher, Debbie and Andy Carleton, Steve and Abunida Racine, Chris and Rick Labelle, his grandchildren and their families, Heath and Marcelle, Chad and Jenny, Melinda and Kevin, Chelsea and Dallas, Amber and Josh, Michelle and Rob, John, Jay, Jea, Colby, and Tyler, great-grandchildren, Joe and Eva, Nicole, Kayleigh, Zander, Arianna, Ashton, Rylen, Kady, Ethan, and Carter. He is also survived by his sister Beth Rickstad, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat Ricardo. He was predeceased by his sister Aline, his brothers Willie, Roger, Gene, Maurice, and his parents Eugene and Melinda Racine. Per Ray’s wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A private service will be held for the family, with burial to follow in Resurrection Park. The family would like to thank everyone from Allenwood, the VNA, and Vermont Respite House for their help in caring for our Dad.
