Rosemary (Wilhelmus) Brune, 87, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Woodmont Health Campus. Rosemary was born on October 29, 1930, to the late Charles Anthony and Lora (Berfanger) Wilhelmus. Rosemary then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Evansville, and a Master’s degree in nursing education from Indiana University. Rosemary’s career as a registered nurse, educator, counselor, and manager, spanned three states: Indiana, Michigan, and California. She practiced in the fields of community and occupational health nursing at Mead Johnson and Company, University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She also practiced at the Bishop Clinic, and Disneyland (both locations in California). She was an assistant professor of nursing at the University of Evansville. The nurse counselor and educator roles were very prominent in her practice with clients at the Evansville State Hospital, the Boehne Camp Treatment Center for Substance Abuse, the Veterans Administration Health Department, and in her supervisory position with the VA. In 1960, she met William Brune while he was attending law school at Indiana University. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, and they made annual trips to Branson to attend their favorite shows, especially Daniel O’Donnell. They also enjoyed gardening and family reunions. Rosemary is survived by special caregivers, Dick and Jane Wilhelmus and Bobbie Jean Wilhelmus. Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, the Honorable Judge William J. Brune in 2013; brothers, Oswald (Ozzie) Wilhelmus, John Wilhelmus, Bob Wilhelmus and Charles Wilhelmus; and sisters, Alvera Spaetti and Delores Weber. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM on Monday, October 1, 2018, at St. Rupert Catholic Church, 1244 Red Brush Rd., Newburgh, IN 47630 with Father Lowell Will and Father Jack Durchholz celebrating. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9:00 AM until Mass time at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Tri-State Food Bank, 801 E. Michigan St., Evansville, IN 47711 and Deaconess Hospice, 610 E. Walnut St., Evansville, IN 47713.
