Obituary for Ray Oliver Redburn Ray Oliver Redburn, age 91, of Chanute, KS, passed away on August 29, 2018 at Cherryvale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cherryvale, KS. He was born on January 18, 1927 in Borger, TX the son of Harve and Gladys (Tobin) Redburn. Ray married his wife of 67 years, Neva (Olson) Redburn, in Erie, KS on December 22, 1950. She survives at their home. Ray was a very hard worker throughout his life starting his employment at the young age of four, rounding up and milking cows on the farm. He finished eighth grade and eventually attended three years of Bible College and ministered at the Temple Baptist Church in Erie, KS, but his love of learning showed in his constant reading of books, even keeping a dictionary on hand for use as needed, furthering his quest in self-education in the many subjects he was intrigued with. He worked for Mid-America Dairy in Erie, KS and after retirement, continued working daily building fence and woodworking. Ray’s love of playing guitar and singing led him to record an album with his sister at a young age. He was lucky enough to travel to Europe six times. In later years, attending his grandchildren’s events became his favorite pastime. Ray will be missed by those who had the honor of sharing his life.
