OBITUARY Quirino Peña Santos June 13, 1920 – September 9, 2018 Quirino Antonio Peña Santos, “Don Blanco”, passed peacefully in his home in Providence, RI on September 9, 2018 surrounded by his family at the age of 98. Don Blanco is survived by his wife, Lidia Rita; his siblings, Juan Angel, Pedro Francisco, Hipolito Casiano, Pilar, Juliana, Antonia, Candida, y Carmen; his children Ramona, Quilvio, Jose, Nelson, Adria, Wilson, and Ana; his grandchildren Juanita, Brenda, Ingrid, Kioma, Ionnika, Keylin, Quilvio, Mariam, Corey, Kaprisky, Zashary, Mast, Ashley, Henry, Yasmin, Jennifer, Amy, Leslie, Sari, and Genesis; as well as twenty-eight great-grandchildren. Don Blanco was born on June 13, 1920 in La Calla, Valverde Mao, Dominican Republic to Juana Pena and Hipolito Chavez. He worked as a farmer and after moving to Santo Domingo he began working for La Fabrica de Sacos y Cordelería. He was a cockfighting enthusiast and an avid fan of the Tigres de Licey, a Dominican baseball team and the Boston Red Sox. Don Blanco’s children remember him as humorous when needed and always a measured and honorable man. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Pontarelli-Marino Funeral Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, RI 02904. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 14, 2018 at St. Bartholomew’s Church, 297 Laurel Hill Ave, Providence, RI 02909 at 10 a.m. and burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, Riverside, RI 02915. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Don Blanco’s life. Repass to follow at 39 Longfellow Terrace, Providence, RI 02907. Quirino Antonio Peña Santos, “Don Blanco”, falleció pacíficamente a la edad de 98 años en su casa en Providence, Rhode Island el 9 de septiembre del 2018 rodeado de su familia. A Don Blanco le sobreviven su esposa, Lidia Rita; sus hermanos, Juan Ángel, Pedro Francisco, Hipólito Casiano, Pilar, Juliana, Antonia, Cándida, y Carmen; sus hijos Ramona, Quilvio, José, Nelson, Belkys, Wilson, y Kenia; sus nietos Juanita, Brenda, Ingrid, Kioma, Ionnika, Keylin, Quilvio, Mariam, Corey, Kaprisky, Zashary, Mast, Ashley, Henry, Yasmin, Jennifer, Amy, Leslie, Sari y Génesis; así como veintiocho bisnietos. Don Blanco nació el 13 de junio del 1920 en La Calla, Valverde Mao, República Dominicana, hijo de Juana Peña e Hipólito Chávez. Trabajó como agricultor y después de mudarse a Santo Domingo comenzó a trabajar para La Fábrica de Sacos y Cordelería. Era un gallero y un ávido fanático de los Tigres de Licey, un equipo dominicano de béisbol y de los Boston Red Sox. Los hijos de Don Blanco lo recuerdan como jocoso cuando lo necesario y siempre como un hombre mesurado y honorable. El velorio está programado para el jueves 13 de septiembre del 2018 de 4:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m. en Pontarelli- Marino Funeral Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, Rhode Island 02904. Al siguiente dia, viernes 14 de septiembre del 2018 habrá una misa en La Iglesia San Bartolomeu, 297 Laurel Hill Ave, Providence, Rhode Island 02909 a las 10:00 a.m. seguido por el entierro en el cementerio Gate of Heaven, 550 Wampanoag Trail, Riverside, RI 02915.
