Johnny Ray McQueen 2018

On September 17, 1954, in High Point, North Carolina, David Sr. and Elizabeth McQueen was blessed with a handsome baby boy, Johnny Ray McQueen. Surrounded by family, he departed this life on Friday, September 21, 2018, at Carolinas Hospital, Florence, South Carolina. Johnny Ray was educated in South Carolina and graduated from Blenheim High School in 1973. He furthered his training at Florence-Darlington Technical College, majoring in Diesel Mechanics. Johnny Ray was married to the lovely Judy McAllister McQueen. To this union two beautiful and talented children were born. Cassandra Sharrel McQueen (teacher at Posh Tots LLC Learning Center) and David Keith (10 years in the United States Air Force and current student at College of San Francisco). He had the joy of being granddad to his beautiful princess granddaughter, Brianna McQueen, during the last seven years of his life. Johnny Ray was employed as a Diesel Mechanic with the Mack Trucking Company in Florence, South Carolina for several years. He was also employed at Davis and Davis Disposal for several years. He served as a member of King Solomon Masonic Lodge #356. Johnny Ray impacted and touched many lives through his service as a mechanic throughout Effingham, Evergreen, Florence, SC and other areas. Johnny Ray was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Lottie McQueen; maternal grandparents, Mattie and Jeremiah Richardson, Hattie and Johnny Williams, and George Crosland; parents, David Sr. and Elizabeth McQueen; brother, Russell McQueen, sister, Terryah McQueen; and nephews, Jeryld Bethea and Kenji McQueen. Having benefited from a lovely relationship with his in-laws, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Mr. Keith and mother-in-law Mrs. Emma McAllister; brother-in-law, Mr. Keith McAllister, Jr.; nephew, Bernard McAllister; and sister-in-law, Carol Ellerbe. Though deeply missing his presence, Johnny Ray leaves to cherish fond memories, his loving wife Judy McAllister McQueen; daughter, Cassandra Sharrel McQueen; son, David Keith McQueen of Yuba City, California; granddaughter, Brianna McQueen; four brothers: David (Rene) McQueen, Jr. of High Point, North Carolina; Franklin McQueen of Huntsville, Alabama; Thaddeus McQueen of Bennettsville, South Carolina; and Wayne (Sharon Latrice) McQueen of Detroit, Michigan; eight sisters; Ora Lee (Phillip) Bethea, Rhonda Covington, and Verlene McQueen all of Florence, South Carolina; Olivia (Hugh) Holland of Huntsville, Alabama; Elaine McQueen and Kathy McQueen both of Columbia, South Carolina; Debra McQueen of Sumter, South Carolina; and Denise Bethea of New London, Connecticut; three brothers-in-law: Johnny Lee McAllister and Willie Douglas McAllister, both of Effingham, South Carolina; and Tommy Ellerbe of Columbia, South Carp;oma; four sisters-in law: Christabel McAllister and Ida McAllister, both of Effingham, South Carolina, Terester L. (John) McAllister-KASSA of Florence, South Carolina; and Janie Mae McAllister of Johnsonville, South Carolina; Leaise McQueen of Florence, South Carolina; a special cousin, Willie Belle Boatwright-Murphy of Bennettsville, South Carolina; 23 nephews; 12 nieces; 28 great nephews; 19 great nieces; and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
