Obituary for John Dunn Captain John F. Dunn, USMC (retired), 83, of Shore Road, Westerly, Rhode Island died at home on Thursday, September 6, 2018. John retired from the Marine Corps, then served as the State of Rhode Island’s Director, U.S. Department of Labor for Veteran’s Employment and Training. During his multiple tours of combat duty in Vietnam he earned the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars with Combat V, and the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, two Vietnamese Crosses of Gallantry, and the Purple Heart. He leaves three children, Dr. Dorothy J. Dunn of Flagstaff, AZ, Timothy P. Dunn of East Providence, RI, Amy J. Silvia of Acton, CA, he was predeceased by his son, Kevin M. Dunn of FL. John is also survived by two siblings, Margaret. M. Chapman of Bristol, RI and Michael Dunn of Lincoln, RI; four grandchildren, one great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by seven siblings. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Burial with Full Military Honors will be conducted at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
