Obituary for James “Jimmie” Underwood Jimmie Walker Underwood, age 82 of Little River – Academy died Thursday, August 30, 2018 in a local hospital. He was born on December 13, 1935 in Kodak, TN to Harvey Lee and Sally Mae (Hastings) Underwood. In his younger years Jimmie proudly served in the United States Marines. He lived in Little River – Academy for the past 32 years and in the 70’s and 80’s he worked as a mechanic at C & J Garage. He is preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Sally Underwood, his two sons Richard Underwood and Ray Underwood and his brother Alfred Underwood. Jimmie will be greatly missed by his son Wayne Underwood of Little River-Academy, his three daughters Annette Baggett and husband Glenn Dickerson and Mary Avinon and husband Jeff both of Temple and Pamela Stevens of The Grove, his step-son Dennis Desse of TN, his 20 grandchildren, his 22 great-grandchildren and his beloved dog Jake who was like a son to Jimmie. A date and time for a memorial service are pending. Hewett-Arney Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
