Obituary for Henry Nichols Henry R. Nichols was born May 11, 1929 in Jefferson City, Missouri, the son of the late Tommy Nichols and Mary J. Hollicker Nichols. He married Norma (Jean) Case on March 13th, 1947. Henry served three years as a U.S. Army Air Corps aircraft mechanic with the 13th and 20th Air Force and was stationed throughout the Pacific Theater during his service. In 1954, he began his 35-year career with the McDonnell Douglas Corporation where he worked as a flight inspector on military fighter aircraft until his retirement in 1990. Throughout his career with McDonnell Douglas (later Boeing Aircraft Corp.), he was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Throughout his life, Henry was an avid gardener who also enjoyed fishing, camping, staying abreast of current events and spending quality time with family and friends. Henry’s trademark wit and candor were a reflection of his unimpeachable honesty and integrity. Through his living example and devotion to his family, he taught us the true meaning of love and selflessness. Along with his wife of 71 years, Jean, he is survived by daughters Beverly Heppermann (her husband Norbert), Janice Cartmill (her husband Jonathan) and son Ronald Nichols (his wife Elizabeth Nichols), six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and one sister Helen May Quinn. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Holts Summit. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Rev. Shane Crum officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hartsburg. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice Compassus or the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Association.
