Obituary for George Griffin III George Brevard Griffin III, 82, of Monroe, NC, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018. He was born in Lancaster, SC., on February 25, 1936 to the late George Brevard Jr, and Wilma Cox Griffin and a sister Nancy Blackwell, he is also preceded in death by his loving wife Doris Nell Griffin. Funeral services for George will be held at 2:00pm Friday, September 28th, 2018, at Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112, Entombment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park, with Masonic rights. The family will receive friends and family prior to the service from 1:00pm until 1:45pm. He was survived by his two sons, Edgar B. Griffin, Jeffrey W. Griffin, two daughters Shelia Gagliardi and Kimberly Bigham all of Lancaster, SC., a brother David Griffin of Rock Hill, SC., and a very special friend Marian Pittman of Fort Mill, SC., eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105, and Indian Land Lodge 414, 9189 Charlotte Hwy, Fort Mill, SC 29715.
