OBITUARY Frank C. Piccirilli Jr. October 4, 1929 – August 29, 2018 Frank C. Piccirilli Jr., 88, passed away August 29, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Louise A. (DeCorpe) Piccirilli. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Frank C. Sr. and Beatrice (Barletta) Piccirilli. He was the father of Frank C. Piccirilli, III and Lynn Solitro and her husband Michael; papa of David, Curtis, Sabra, Donato and Francesca; great-papa of Santino; brother of Rose Simeone and the late William Piccirilli. Our dad was a happily married man for 64 years to Louise his loving wife. He graduated from LaSalle Academy and Providence College. Both schools would leave a long lasting impression on his character and religious beliefs. He was employed by the Providence School Department and worked as a Reading, Language Arts and ESL/Bilingual Administrator. He initiated the first English as a Second Language/ Bi-Lingual Program in the City of Providence in 1970. Dad possessed the “Gift of Gab” at a time when anything could be accomplished on “The Phone”. He retired in 1990 after serving the Providence Schools for 36 years. Additionally, he was a loyal member of the Mount Pleasant Lions Clubs, American Legion, Knights of Columbus and a long standing member of the Italo-American Club. He was a Korean War Veteran and would proudly wear his war cap during his last few months of life. Friends and family was dad’s primary focus throughout his life. During his family years, he would involve himself with little league, sports, Boy Scouts, music, dance and school. In later years, his focus revolved around his grandchildren. Watching them play sports, perform gymnastics or open a Christmas gift would light up his life. He also loved cooking Italian food. During holidays his kitchen table would be abundantly full of Italian delicacies. The words family, friends, gentle and soft spoken would best describe him. Dad was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Visitation and funeral will be held Tuesday, 9-10:30 a.m. in the Pontarelli-Marino Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 280 Hawkins Street, Providence. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
