OBITUARY Emil Ruiz June 28, 1933 – September 14, 2018 Emil Ruiz, 85, passed away September 14, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Dora M. (Pena) Ruiz. Born in the Dominican Republic, he was a son of the late Baron and Romona (Pimental) Ruiz. Emil was the loving father of Larry E. Ruiz and his wife Katie, Omar M. Ruiz and his wife Zaira, Randy Ruiz, Yomer Ruiz, Lucy M. Ruiz, Katia M. Ruiz and Marlene Ruiz Osoria and her husband Elias; brother of Augustin Ruiz, Julia Hernandez and Magnolia Ruiz. He is also survived by several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Hady E. Ruiz and Ruben Ruiz. Emil Ruiz Pimentel was a family man loved by all his kids, grandkids, family and friends. His charming personality made his presence felt everywhere he went. He was a great son who was raised by his Widow Mother after, the passing of his Dad at age of 9. One of 8 Brothers (Siquin; Baron, Bolivar, Mellizo, Pepin, Efrain, Agustin, Vive) and 4 sisters. (Miami, Magnolia, Julia, Isis) He grew up in a Big Family with great principles and values. His upbringing influenced him throughout his life in a big way: never forgetting his roots or his hometown of Yamasa, Dominican Republic where;he grew up and served one term as mayor. (Anyone who knew him heard him speak about Yamasa.) His unconditional love and smile lite up an entire room. He enjoyed dancing, music, politics, food specially Yuca, Pastelitos and cannot forget bread. His Love towards his Grandkids was special enough to be nicknamed LELO!!! by alot of them. (Thanks to Jorgito who couldn’t say Abuelo as a baby, lol!) He was a great mentor with plenty of wisdom to talk to you about anything. He was a Great Man with a genuine caring, loving, tenacious character. He took time to listened and shared advice if, asked to. He set expectations really high on fatherhood for all his 9 children’s. His family was his driving force and unity was essential in the way he embraced life. His memory will forever lived amongst everyone who had the blessed opportunity to know him. He will forever be missed but, never forgotten. Visitation will be held Tuesday 4-7 p.m. with his funeral service on Wednesday at a time to be determined in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence.
