Obituary for Donald S. Mittler Donald S. Mittler, of Sterling Heights, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2018, at the age of 77. He was born October 8, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to Nicholas and Josephine Mittler. Beloved husband of the late Carolyn. Loving father of Michelle (Mike) Handerson, Melissa (Andre) Doser, and Jason Mittler. Proud grandfather of Nicholas and Alex Henderson; Lauren and Juliana Doser; and Ryan Mittler. Donald was a religious man and his catholic faith was very important to him. Throughout his life, he spent the majority of it working in the tool & die industry, accruing over 40 years experience with Cincinnati Milacron. During his free time, he enjoyed bowling, traveling, spending time in northern Michigan, canoeing and hiking. Donald was also an avid sports fan. He loved all Detroit sports, but their was a special place in his heart for U of M football and Bo Schembechler. Among many other attributes, he was a generous man. Donating time and effort to fundraisers such as P.I.M.E., Gleaner’s, and McRest. Donald’s cremated remains will be inurned at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.
