Obituary for Mr. David Futrell David Futrell left this world on September 5, 2018 to transition to his heavenly home. He was born August 12, 1952 in Carthage, Texas to Mondrick Heald Futrell and Nell Woodley Futrell. He graduated in May of 1971 from Elysian Fields High School, and he served our country in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1971-1975. After being discharged, David worked as a heavy equipment operator across Texas and Louisiana. Pushing dirt was his love and passion. On an occasional day off, he loved hunting, fishing, and football. David loved his family, friends, and will be remembered as “Catman” by everyone that loved him. As a young boy David walked the aisle of Crossroads Baptist Church. He loved his childhood pastor and Boy Scout leader, Bro. Sam Houston, who gave him the nickname “King David”. He is preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Futrell is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Jean Hardee Futrell and step children, Brandi Shea Pierce and Clinton Hardee Stone, grandchildren, Krysta Lingo, Colby and Bella Stone. David leaves behind three brothers and four sisters, Rendell Futrell and wife Dot, Donnie Futrell and wife Mollie, Deanna Lester and husband David, Nellie McGuigan and husband Pat, Jenny Harlan and husband Les, Matt Futrell and wife Sandy, and Molly Parks and husband Pat, numerous nieces, nephews, and sweet cousins. He was blessed to still have aunts and uncles, Betty Jane Clark, Mollie Woodley, Larry and Linda Woodley and Charles Futrelle. Mother-in-law, Dorothy Gibbs Hardee and sister-in-law, Martha Lawhorn and husband Doug and brother-in-law, Steve LeGrand. Serving as pallbearers will be, Bubba Ingram, Jason (Moe) Price, Emmette Randolph, Jimmy Kruebbe, Pat Parks, and Chad Sims. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Young and Larry Moore. Graveside services with military honors will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2018 at the Woodley Cemetery in Harrison County, Texas, burial will follow under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home with Matt Futrell sharing about his beloved brother’s life.
