He enlisted into the United States Navy and he met the love of his life, Gayle. He left for bootcamp in Green Bay Wisconsin on Gayles 19th birthday in March of ’68. After bootcamp, Chuck was aboard the USS Saratoga Aircraft Carrier as a mechanic directing planes for landing and take off. While enlisted between 1968 and 1970, he traveled to Malta, Spain, Greece, Italy & Cuba. Meanwhile, Gayle was happily awaiting his return on January 29, 1970. Upon his return they immediately started planning their wedding for May 22, 1971. Just shy of their first wedding anniversary they welcomed their first born, Michelle in 1972 followed by the arrival of their son, Scott in 1976. In 1982 the family took their first of many vacations to Walt Disney World creating wonderful memories for all. As the kids grew older, Michelle went on to attend college and graduate from SUNY Oswego and Scott enlisted in the United States Army, part of 3rd Infantry Division that invaded Baghdad during the Iraq War. Chuck couldn’t have been more proud of his children and their accomplishments. Chuck and Gayle had a passion for traveling together. From vacationing in Alaska and Hawaii to Bar Harbor Maine and Key West along with many states in between. They especially enjoyed visiting Nashville and the Grand ‘Ole Opry. It didn’t matter where they were in their travels as long as they were together. Chuck passed away 50 yrs. & 7 months after meeting the love of his life. He survived hell & back a few times during his 4 ½ months of surgeries, but he was a fighter and kept that fight until his body could no longer be willed to live. He was a very loyal, loving, dependable, supportive and hardworking man throughout his life. His whole world revolved around his family and he would do anything for them. Chuck is and will always be Gayle’s forever love. She was by his side every day, able to look into his beautiful blue eyes encouraging him to fight through the pain and stay with her. Their love and their memories together will be cherished for eternity.
