Betty Jo Tosti, née Vaughan, age 67, passed away on August 23, 2018 in the Trapp area of Winchester, Kentucky after a long illness with cancer. Born in El Paso, Texas to Ted and Betty Vaughan, where her early schooling included several years at Irvin High School. She graduated from Northglenn, Colorado, in 1969. Betty subsequently joined the FBI in Washington, DC for several years, where she met Louis Tosti, her husband of 46 years. After marriage in Utica, New York in 1972, they made work… Read More » stops in many cities including Hazlett, New Jersey; El Paso, Texas; Cincinnati, Ohio; Herndon, Virginia; Farragut, Tennessee; and Las Vegas, Nevada; before settling in Trapp three years ago. Betty Jo was a college graduate who had many outside interests. Earning a degree as a Registered Nurse from George Mason University in 1990, Betty subsequently worked in Virginia and later at Park West Hospital, Knoxville and Blount Memorial, Maryville, Tennessee, before taking assignments in several Southwest states as a Traveling Nurse. She was also an excellent seamstress; talented photographer; and competent ceramics maker. Her lifelong love of animals fostered ownership of many cats, dogs, birds and fish. She and her husband visited numerous national parks during their long marriage, where she enjoyed photographing animals and landscapes. She most recently started a sheep business with her family on their Trapp farm. She is survived by her mother, Betty Vaughan, Longmont, Colorado; her husband Louis, two sons Jason and Alex and two grandchildren; as well as two sisters Kathy and Teddy who reside in Colorado.
