Obituary for Wilmer “Bill” Snyder Wilmer C. ‘Bill’ Snyder July 19, 1931 – July 30, 2018 Wilmer C. “Bill” Snyder 87, Hollidaysburg, went home to be with the Lord on Monday at his home, surrounded by family after a brief illness. He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of the late Benjamin and Melda I. (Grey) Snyder. On Sept. 27, 1952, he married Patricia A. Hitchings in Hollidaysburg. Surviving is his wife; two daughters: Sandra Conner and husband, Paul, and Michelle Davis and husband, Paul; three sons: Steve and wife, Colleen, Michael and wife, Beth, and David and wife, Lisa Snyder; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Doris Roller and Emily Zeek. He was preceded in death by a son, Dean; a grandson, Aaron; a sister, Catherine; and by three brothers: George, Kenneth and James Snyder. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he received two Purple Hearts after being wounded in combat. He worked as a pipefitter for the Local 354. He was a member of the Sylvan Hills Golf Course where he worked in the pro-shop for 22 years. He was of the Brethren Faith and loved hunting, fishing and golf. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park, Pastor Ed Jelliff officiating. Interment will be held afterward in Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
