William Lee “Bill” Thomas died on Thursday, August 2, 2018. Bill was born on August 18, 1943 in Tillamook. He moved to Yakima in the 1960’s. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany. He was honorably discharged November 3, 1962. He moved to Coquille in 1962. He worked as a millwright, landscaper and newspaper delivery driver for many years in Coquille. Although his battle with diabetes was difficult at times, Bill lived his life. He loved gardening, food and helping others. Bill was a very active member in the Coquille Bible Baptist Church, where he was always inviting and passing out flyers of upcoming events to his neighbors as well as anyone he could think of. His transformation when he received the Lord as his Savior was so apparent. He loved to sing in the church choir. Over time his sight was diminished but he still enjoyed singing both at church and at home. Bill Thomas was a long standing fixture walking around Coquille with his amazing fur companion, Sammy. He always looked forward to a friendly smile and handshake, sometimes even a hug. He was a strong, loving, kind soul that will be missed by all. He touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with. His passing was sudden and unexpected. Bill is now “home in heaven” where he joined his Lord and Savior as well as his parents, numerous siblings, and other loved ones. Bill is survived by his sons, William Thomas Jr., and Mathew Thomas; sister, Darlene Nelson; brother, Jerry Thomas and many cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Coquille Ambulance, Myrtle Point Ambulance, Coquille Police Department, as well as the staff at Coquille Valley Hospital for all of their dedication over the years in the care of our beloved William “Bill” Thomas.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of William Bill Thomas 2018.
