Violet Bennin June 18 1929 July 29 2018

Obituary for Violet M. Bennin Violet M. Bennin, age 89 of Shawano, passed away on Sunday morning, July 29, 2018 at Atrium Post Acute Care of Shawano at Evergreen. Violet was born June 18, 1929 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Joseph and Marie (Nichols) Mikoliczak. She was married to Jerome Bennin on August 17, 1946. She and her husband owned Robinhood Builders. Jerry was a contractor/carpenter and Violet was the secretary for the family business. Violet also worked at Maple Lane as a receptionist, taught CCD at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and tutored at Lincoln School. Beyond her public service, she loved entertaining audiences in Shawano, Green Bay, Appleton, and around the state. On most weekends you could find Vi and Jerry singing and playing to packed supper clubs. They shared a great chemistry and, between the two of them, created some of the area’s most fun and nostalgic moments. Polkas would be streaming from Jerry’s accordion and the songs flowed from Vi’s beautiful voice. Violet was also a published author and appeared in several poetry books. She was very proud of the poems she wrote about her family and her life experiences. Violet went on many fun adventures with her daughter, Judy, and her family, from Germany to Hawaii and most of the United States. Violet enjoyed her family time. Her favorite place to reflect on her love for travel and her family was in the Wisconsin Dells. Since their honeymoon the family had a tradition of going to The Dells every year to celebrate their anniversary. Violet loved life and loved all her many friends. She wanted everyone to live life to the fullest and asked that her message be shared with all of you. To my family and friends, Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on the snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn’s rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die. Survivors include her children, Judy (Andrew) Walby, Molly (Jay) Martell, and Greg (Cathy) Bennin; her grandchildren, Zachary (Mary) Walby, Kyle (fiancé Lydia) Walby, Travis Martell, Lance (Cheryl) Bennin, Bonita Ibarra; and great-grandchildren, Robin, Andrea, Tasha, Monica, Kyle, Lyndsey, Landon, and Broden; two great-great-grandchildren; and her close personal friend, Geni Galbraith. Violet was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jerome; and her sons, Larry Bennin and Andy Bennin. In keeping with Violet’s wishes, no public service will be held.
