She was involved in her children’s school activities and was always ready and willing to prepare an item or two for bake sales, etc. and work concessions at the sports events. After Bill’s traumatic auto accident in 1979, Myrtle expanded her care-giving by pursuing a career as a CNA, receiving her certification and working many years at the Wray District Hospital. She later continued her CNA career at the Yuma Life Care Center. Myrtle developed many strong friendships during her time at the Wray hospital. After Myrtle was unable to continue with the rigors of her CNA duties, she devoted her time to volunteering. First she was a CNA for Hospice of the Plains, then as a Friend Volunteer for Hospice. She volunteered at the food pantry in Wray and at the senior center in Wray.
