Martha Pridgen Rogers died Saturday, July 28, 2018 in Norfolk, VA. Martha was born on June 9, 1924 in Warsaw, N.C. She was the youngest of three siblings of Robert Courtney Pridgen (of blessed memory) and Sallie Gibbs Pridgen (of blessed memory). She was predeceased by her husband, John Patterson Rogers, her older brother Robert Pridgen, her older sister Sallie Pridgen Anderson and her oldest daughter Dr. Sally Rose Rogers. She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Rogers Einhorn (Marty) and Jean Rogers (George Bergantz) and her adored grandsons Will and Jay Einhorn (April). Martha graduated from Flora MacDonald College in Red Springs, NC with a degree in Home Economics. She took a job teaching at Smithfield, NC high school where she met her husband John Patterson Rogers. Martha was a devoted wife and mother with a skilled knack for fashion, decorating, painting and sewing. After her children graduated from college, Martha embarked on a new career as Executive Director of Contact Teleministry USA. Martha was a talented soprano who sang every Sunday in the choir of First Presbyterian Church for over sixty years. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Province Place of DePaul for their support and care for Martha in her later years. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Martha’s life on August 10, 2018 at noon at First Presbyterian Church, 215 S. 3rd Street, Smithfield, NC, 27577. The family will receive friends at a visitation at 11:00 am at the Church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Virginia Chorale, P.O.
