Mrs. Lois A. Davis, 87, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away surrounded by loved ones at 5:06 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN. Lois was born to the union of Hermon and Birdie Lee Owens in Pontotoc, MS on February 5, 1931. She was one of ten children. On January 14, 1950, she was united in holy matrimony to Leon V . Davis, Sr., and went on to build a family of five children together. Lois is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; both parents; two sisters: Martha Jane Ware and Daisy Goens; two brothers: Charles Stewart and Herman Owens, Jr.; two grandchildren: Rachel and Michael Davis; and two great-grandchildren: Trevor and Troy Davis. Lois leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Leon Sr.; three daughters: Marilyn Brown, Felicia (Gregory) Hill and Paulette (Butch) Kelley, all of South Bend, IN; two sons: Leon V. Davis, Jr. of Sanford, FL and Rev. Bernard (Carlyon) Davis of South Bend, IN; ten grandchildren: Patricia, Timothy, Jennifer, James, Melissa, Steven (Sharina), Arica, Shanea, Trey and Sierra; eleven great-grandchildren : DeGregory, Lakeisha (DeRon), Deshawn, Treyvon, Lauren, Timothy, Tommie, Leilani, Braxton, Xavier and Sy’Riyah and four great-great-grandchildren: Dawson, Mason, Tru and Ja’Cere; three sisters: Ruth O’Neal, Lowree (Wiley) Ware of South Bend, IN and Frances Herrell of MI; two brothers: Rev. Lefate (Ora Lee) Owens of Elkhart, IN and Joe Kelly Owens of Patton, CA; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Her love did not stop at just family, it extended to close friends Marcia Kittrell, Ruby Washington, Marie Robinson and many other friends. Mrs. Lois Davis spent many years nurturing children at Hopewell Daycare, where she was a faithful mother of the church. She always professed her faith in Christ and had a song in her heart. Lois Davis cherished her family and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to bask in her love. She is loved by many and touched many lives. She will truly be missed. The family would like to thank the second floor staff at Memorial Hospital for all of their kindness and help. Funeral services for Mrs. Lois A. Davis will be held on Thursday, August 2 at 12:00 pm at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 1232 E Bronson St, South Bend.
