Joyce Hendrickson 1933 2018

Obituary for Joyce Hendrickson (Berg) Joyce Verneil Berg Hendrickson, 85, died Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at the Sanford Vermillion Care Center. She was born May 22, 1933 to Martin and Christine (Thompson) Berg, at home in rural Grand Forks County, North Dakota. She was the 9th of 9 daughters. She started school at the township schoolhouse and graduated from Central High School in Grand Forks, living in an apartment with two of her sisters for her last 3 years of school. She married Neil Hendrickson on June 15, 1952 at Evanger Lutheran Church, rural Grand Forks. They had 3 children, Bruce, Christy, and Noel. She loved music, always participating in church choirs, directing choirs, singing, humming, and otherwise carrying on. She was often a Bible study leader as well as worship committee member at the churches to which she belonged. She loved her large, extended family and, as the last of her generation of the Berg family, was the beloved matriarch. She is survived by her children, Bruce (Martha) Hendrickson, Christy Kimball, Noel (Donna) Hendrickson; grandchildren, Rachel, Erika, Peter, Rebecca, Kathryn, Sarah, Benjamin, Heather, Melissa, Alysha, Christopher, and Elizabeth; 18 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and friends all over the world. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Thelma, Clara, Gladys, Gladys, Caroline, Olive, Rosella, and Lucille; her son-in-law, Larry Kimball; her nephew, Chuck, and niece, Diana. A service will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018, at 10:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 816 E Clark ST, Vermillion, SD.
