John Michael “Mike” Young. Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born on October 21st,1945 in North Adams, Massachusetts and passed on July 27th 2018. He leaves his loving wife Joanie Romano Young of 48 years, and two daughters; Tina Young and Russ Hampsey, Diana Young and Joe Fletcher, and 4 grandchildren, Emma and Michael Fletcher and Tommy and Bella Dejongh and one great granddaughter Viviana Hampsey. Mike spent his childhood and teen years in Averill Park, New York, growing up on the family farm. He enjoyed spending time at the local race track and working on cars. Mike then joined the United States Army and honorably served in Vietnam . Mike and Joan raised their family and enjoyed summer camping trips throughout the Southeast especially in the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains. Mike worked for GTE for 25 years and ascended from a lineman to supervisor during his professional career. Following his retirement, he moved to Inverness, Fla. Never one to rest, Mike started and ran a handyman service in the local area. Mike often traveled hours to spend time with his daughters and grandchildren. He liked to attend their sporting events, graduations, and other activities. In keeping with Mike’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. The family will announce a celebration of life at a later date.
