Jerome Ronald Schaefer 2018

SCHAEFER—Jerome Ronald Schaefer, known to family and friends as Jerry, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. He was a long time resident of Jacksonville, Florida. Born March 21, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Irving and Millie Schaefer. The family moved to Miami Florida in the mid 1940’s where he and his brother, the late Kenneth Schaefer, grew up. Jerry met his wife Janice while stationed in Key West in 1976 and they married in March of 1977. This year they celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. Jerry joined the navy at 17 and retired with 20+ years service in February of 1978. He then worked civil service at NAS Jax in supply and at Naval Hospital Jax for an additional 20+ years before retiring in 2008. Jerry is survived by his wife, Janice, and two daughters, Candice Holcomb (Jason) and Adrianne Turner (Dennis); and his three grandchildren, Brandon, Emily, Cara. In their retirement years Jerry and Janice enjoyed cruising several times a year and traveling stateside between cruises. He enjoyed spending time with (and spoiling) his grandchildren any chance he got. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 24th at 11am at Jacksonville Memory Gardens in Orange Park, Florida.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Jerome Ronald Schaefer 2018.
