James E Melody Jr November 7 1940 August 17 2018 (age 77)

James E. Melody, Jr., 77, of Avon for over 50 years, died peacefully on August 17, 2018 at his home. Native of Dorchester, a son of the late Beatrice and James, he also resided in Wollaston. Jim was a certified public accountant for several companies and also prepared tax returns. He was a devout Catholic and a member of Knights of Columbus St. James Council in Avon and 4th Degree. Jim enjoyed spending winters in Florida, walking, Foxwood trips, boat rides, bowling, sports, and had been Treasurer for Little League and other groups. He was the beloved husband of Eileen (Slattery) Melody for 54 years; loving father of Arlene Melody Sorel and her husband Roland of Westford, Robert J. Melody and his wife Greta of N. Attleboro, and Charlene Melody Nielsen and her husband Sean of Medford, N.Y.; dear grandfather of Kendra and Gabrielle Melody and Tracy and Kyle Nielsen; brother of Thomas Melody of Rockland and his late wife Kathleen; and uncle of the late Stephen Melody. All are welcome to calling hours Monday 4-8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton, his funeral Tuesday at 9 a.m. from Waitt Funeral Home, funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church, Avon and burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
