Harvey C. Chesser, 81, of Galesburg, died at 10:09 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018 in Marigold Health Care Center. He was born March 23, 1937, in Galesburg, the son of Lenard E. “Jim” and Nellie Rosetta (Sargeant) Chesser. He married Elsie M. Smith on December 28, 1987 in Dakota City, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on February 13, 1991. He is survived by two brothers, George (Marilyn) Chesser of Wyoming, Illinois and Harry Chesser of Toulon, Illinois; three sisters, Yvette Kemp of Galesburg, Norma Williams of Toulon, and Bonnie Delabar of Toulon; four nephews; and six nieces. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents. Harvey worked at Maytag for 30 years, mainly in the paint department. He enjoyed watching old westerns on VHS, and later DVD. Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Wataga Cemetery with Rev. Jim Ecklund officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the family.
