Gloria M. Maki, 94, of Marquette, died Wednesday morning, August 1, 2018 at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living under the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice. She was born on August 20, 1923 in Marquette to Stephen and Edith Savitski. Gloria worked 25 years for Horrigan-Ternus Oil Company and in her spare time, managed the business affairs of the Holy Cross Cemetery for 15 years. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Shirley Savitski, Estelle (Robert) Mathews, Dorothy Gula, and Sally Maki; one brother-in-law, Robert (Harriet) Maki; also various nieces and nephews and very special friends, Arlene and Harry Rajala. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, her parents, five brothers, Clifford, Alvin, James, Floyd and Majil; two sisters, Virginia Yshinsky and Genevieve Hamalainen, and an infant grandson. The Maki family will greet relatives and friends at St. Michael Catholic Church on Tuesday August 7th beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be George Russo, Robert Maki, Mary Pat Lakenen, and Chris Swanson. Gloria was a member of St. Michael’s Church.
