Obituary for Don Lee Reber Don Lee Reber, 88, of Alliance, died on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 12:05 p.m. at Mercy Medical Center in Canton. He was born on October 19, 1927 in San Diego, CA, had lived in Alliance most of his life and was a 1945 graduate of Alliance High School. A veteran of WWII, he served our country in the U. S. Navy and he was a member of the American Legion Post #166. Don retired as owner of the former Jay’s convenience store. Mr. Reber was a member of the B.P.O. Elks, Past President of Alliance Exchange Club, Past President of Alliance High School Booster Club and Past Commissioner of the Alliance Slo-Pitch Association. Don played softball and had coached a girls softball team. He was also inducted into the Slo-Pitch Hall of Fame. In his past-time, he enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie, bowling, golfing and held season tickets for the Mt. Union Raiders Football. He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying his Cesna. He is survived by his children, Nancy & Steve Ohman of Alliance, Lynn & Charles Ring of Alliance, Don & Sue Reber of Mishawaka, IN, Mike Reber & Cheryl Mills of Sevierville, TN, Tammy & Rick Frank of Marlboro, Gail & Brook Haidet of Alliance, and Judy Wyss & Rich Summers of Alliance; grandchildren, Kristin Charron & Ashley Ohman, Tony Venables, Kelly Ring & Kim Sands, Jenny & Amy Reber, Jill Savage, Alicia Hoffman & Emily Buck, Dustin, Shane and Colton Haidet, Zack & Molly Wyss; ten great-grandchildren; and a step-sister, Joyce Hoffman of FL. Preceding him in death was his wife, Helen J. Reber on April 16, 2003, whom he married on May 7, 1949; his father, Lee Reber, mother Dorothy (Albright) Montgomery; and step-father, Adam Montgomery. The family will receive friends at Walton-Schrader Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. His funeral service will begin at 7:00 p.m. An Elks Service will held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Private Interment, with military honors will take place at Fairmount Memorial Park on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to www.woundedwarriorproject.org .
