Charles Louie Charlie Strosnider 1941 2018

Obituary for Charles “Charlie” Strosnider Charles L. Strosnider Jr. age 76, of Fayetteville, Pa, died on Tuesday, July 31, 2018. Born November 18, 1941, in Frederick, Md, he was the son of the late Charles L Strosnider Sr. and Helen J Strosnider. He was the loving husband of Nancy Curry Strosnider, his wife of 58 years. He was a 1959 graduate of Frederick High School in Maryland. After graduation he enlisted in the Navy where he proudly served his country as a flight mechanic for four years. Following the Navy he worked as a machine operator making test equipment for the US Government and other companies. In 1965 he was hired by Bendix Flight Operation, contracted to NASA, as a flight mechanic to calibrate tracking stations around the world. He enjoyed traveling to different countries and bringing home special mementos to his family. After his four years at Bendix he became a paid firefighter in Maryland with Baltimore County, then a fire inspector. In 1983, he become a building inspector with the Baltimore County License and Permits department until he retired in 1992 at the age of 50. After retirement he worked 14 years at the Burrier/Queen Funeral Home; a job he never considered a job but a way of bringing peace and support to the bereaved. He also drove a school bus for Liberty High School for athletic events and field trips where all the students enjoyed his unique sense of humor and warm smile. “Mayor” Charlie enjoyed sitting on his front porch talking with his neighbors in Penn National, waiting for the mailman, and trying to find the best bargain on groceries as he poured over the weekly flyers. Charlie always had a kind word to say to everyone and will be missed by many in the community. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Laurie and David Everhart of Panama City, Fla; son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Lora Strosnider of Detour, Md; son Thomas B. Strosnider of Fayetteville, Pa; grandchildren Shawn Everhart, Todd (Alex) Everhart, Brandon Everhart, Stefanie (Shaun) Basalik, Stephen (Victoria) Strosnider; great-grandchildren; Dalton Golden, Connor and Jackson Everhart, Lily and Miles Basalik; sister and brother-in-law Gail and Larry Garber of Chesapeake City, Md, sister-in-law Beverly Winther of Frederick, Md.; numerous devoted nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister Patricia Camarra. The Family will receive friends Friday, August 3, 2018 5 to 7 PM at Calvary United Methodist Church, 150 Norlo Dr. Fayetteville, PA 17222 Funeral Services and Interment are PRIVATE.
