OBITUARY Barbara Lee King March 12, 1943 – August 17, 2018 Barbara Lee King gained her wings Friday, August 17, 2018 at Chelsea Retirement Community. Barb was born March 12, 1943 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the daughter of Gene and Ida Mae Gooch. She moved to California where she had one son, Kenny Holman. After raising Kenny, she returned to Michigan to be closer to family. She met and married Edgar King of Chelsea. Barb was proceeded in death by her parents and sister, Kathy Walker. She is survived by her husband, Edgar King, her son Kenny, step-children Jennifer and Chad King (and grandsons), nieces Becky (Tim) Brososky, Melissa (Greg Spangler) Stevens, and nephews Michael Stevens, Andy Stevens and many great nieces and nephews. Barb graduated from Plymouth High School and Cleary College. In California, Barb worked for the California State educational system. In Michigan, she was secretary to the board of commissioners in Washtenaw County. Barb enjoyed travel, bowling and cards. Barb was true animal lover and adored many of her cats and dogs. She was kind-hearted and generous. Barb was active in the Northside Baptist Church in Cullman, AL, as well as Co-Chairman of the seniors “JOY” club.
