Obituary for Barbara Shields (Mileur) Barbara Ann Shields, 85, of Murphysboro, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Barbara was born on December 4, 1932, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Charles Mileur and Zelma (Fox) Mileur. She had worked for the Illinois Electric and Gas, and later for CIPS. Then she went to work at the Jackson County Clerk’s office and retired in 1994. Mrs. Shields was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro. Barbara married Jim Shields on August 31, 1963, at St. Andrew Church in Murphysboro, and he survives. They have been married for fifty five years. Other survivors include several nieces and nephews; and seven brothers and sisters in law Harold and Shirley Shields, Barbara and Wayne Alstat, Mary and Aaron Schuster, Erwin and Gerri Shields, Wayne Shields, Connie and Leonard Froemling and Joe Shields. She was preceded in death by one brother and his wife Charles and Margie Mileur, and three sisters in law. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2018, at St. Andrew Catholic Church and burial at St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
