OBITUARY Wendell “Buddy” Horne Jr. July 11, 1956 – July 10, 2018 HORNE, Wendell Jr., “Buddy,” age 61 of Dayton, passed away after a long illness on July 10th, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents Wendell Sr. and Sue Horne, Survived by daughter and caregiver Heidi Horne; sons David Woods, Brian Wallace and Brian Earley (Rhonda); sisters Patricia Baker (Bobby Olson) and Carolyn Payne (Perry); grandchildren Mackenzie, Lexi, William, Mahaela, Madison, Brenna, Braiden, Mason, Ashley and Taylor; best friend and caregiver, Barbara Sherrill and nieces, Shannan (god-daughter), Candice, Kishia, Heather and Elicia. Buddy was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Marines who volunteered at the Dayton V.A. support groups, belonged to the VFW #2800, and the American Legion #598. He worked as a Machinist and then went on to retire as Manager of Maretti’s Poultry in Columbus. He loved NASCAR, especially Jimmie Johnson (#48). A visitation will be held from 9-10:30am on Tuesday, July 17th at Tobias Funeral Home, Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave. Funeral Service follows at 10:30am and Burial in the Dayton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Liver Foundation or Dayton V.A.
