RAYMOND W. CARR JR. Raymond W. Carr Jr., 94, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at his granddaughter’s home in Splendora, Texas, Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 7:21 p.m. He was born April 3, 1924 in Piqua to the late Raymond W. Carr Sr. and Alma (Gunchle/Reisch) Carr, along with his sister, Helen Carr. He married Laura Mary Birmingham on May 5, 1943 in Connecticut; she preceded him in death March 10, 1983. Together, they had 3 sons: Ricky, Ronnie, and Randy Survivors include five grandchildren. Of Ron Carr: Jan & (husband) Daniel Hiltibrand of Splendora, Texas, Thomas G. Carr of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bradley V. Carr of Houston, Texas. Of Randy Carr: Scott Robinson and Jennifer Robinson. Great-Grandchildren include: Christian Hiltibrand, Joseph Hiltibrand, Jessica Hiltibrand, Taegen Carr, Thomas Carr and Kendyll Carr. Cousins include: Nancy Case, Janet Carr Landers, Claudene Swob. Nieces: Deb Evans Flee, Donna Eldridge. Nephew: Jack Evans. And beloved cousin and friend, Judy Favorite. Special family that referred to him as “Poppy” include: Wayne, Joy, Ian, Austin and Andrew Putman. Grateful appreciation to very special friend/family Ralph Bolton. Mr. Carr attended Piqua City Schools and was employed valuably at the former Decker Meat Processing Plant as a Sales Representative for thirty years. He was a United States Army Veteran having who served during World War II, where he contributed in 5 major campaigns; receiving 4 Bronze Stars, a Silver Star, and a French Medal of Distinction during the 50th Anniversary of Operation Overlord (D-Day). He was an active member of the American Legion, V.F.W. Post for 65 continuous years and for 63 continuous years Master Mason of Warren Masonic Lodge #24. He really enjoyed playing golf, BBQ’s, cracking very dry jokes and loved being with family and friends. A service to honor his life will begin at 1p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Forest Hill Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad.
