Homer Lee Leonard, Jr., 83, known to family and friends as “Cornbread”, completed his earthly journey Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Forsyth Medical Center. Born December 11, 1934, he was the son of the late Homer Lee Leonard, Sr. and Jonnie Lee Everhart Leonard. He was the widower of Margaret Pauline McCrary Leonard who died in 2002 after 41 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by four brothers: Thomas, Frank, Fred and Benny Leonard. “Cornbread” worked many years in the transportation industry as a truck driver. He attended the Mocksville Church of God. Surviving are two sons, Toney Lee Leonard (Patricia) and Thomas Allen Leonard (Julia), all of Mocksville; two daughters, Janice Curtiss (Greg) of Lexington, and Debbie Bledsoe of Salisbury; two sisters, Carolyn Presnell and Leona Leonard, both of Lexington; plus twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday, July 3, at Davie Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 3:00 PM with Pastor Daniel Gamble officiating. He will be laid to rest in Legion Memorial Park in Cooleemee. Arrangements are under the direction of Davie Funeral Service. Online condolences may be posted at www.daviefuneralservice.com
