Obituary for Mrs. Patricia (Pat) Cook Libby Patricia (Pat) Cooke Libby May 4, 1940 – June 28, 2018 Patricia C. (Pat) Libby, age 78, died June 28, 2018 in Foley, AL. She was born May 4, 1940 in Durham, NC to Edna and T.C. Cooke. Pat graduated from Duke University and married Pete Libby, her husband of 56 years. In addition to Pete, she is survived by her children Melissa and Russell (Debbie) Libby, her grandchildren Hannah and Jake Libby, and her beloved dog Scottie. Pat lived in many places during her life and was always known for her creativity, leadership and most of all, her gardening skills. She became a Master Gardener in 1998, is a Certified Flower Show Judge and was named the Alabama Garden Club Member of the Year in 2013. She served as president of the garden club everywhere she lived, including LaGrange, GA; Richmond, VA; Memphis, TN; Jonesboro, AR and most recently was president of the Gulf Shores Garden Club from 2008-2011. She won numerous awards and blue ribbons for her volunteerism and clever flower show designs and traveled throughout the southeast giving programs and judging flower shows. For many years, Pat spent a day a week patrolling the beach to help save sea turtles and protect their nests. She was also instrumental in raising funds as the president of the Friends of Foley Library. She and Pete are members of the Gulf Shores United Methodist Church. Pat saw the beauty in everything and will be dearly missed by her family and all those who knew her. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 10:00 am at Gulf Shores United Methodist Church.
