Marietta Drollman 1930 2016

Obituary for Marietta Drollman Marietta (Blaisdell) Drollman was born on October 18, 1930. She went to be with her Lord On September 7, 2016 after a long heroic struggle with heart disease. Marietta was born in Onida, South Dakota and lived in several towns in that area while growing up. Marietta’s mother died when she was eleven, and she formed a special bond with her sister, Dorothea, who was nine years older and helped to raise her. She met her husband, Joseph Drollman, while still in high school in Lead, South Dakota. They married in 1948, and lived in Lead until 1955, when they and their three young children moved to Wenatchee, where they found their permanent home. They joined Grace Lutheran Church, and were active members. Marietta enjoyed golfing and bowling, hobbies she shared with Joe. They had four children; Michael (Teresa), Kathy (Dan Collins), Rand (Sandy) and David (Shellie). She is also cherished by fifteen grandchildren and twenty five great-grandchildren. These were the joy of her life and the center of her universe. The family remembers her sunny disposition, her love of people, her ability to listen, and her practical wisdom. Her husband Joe passed away in 1992, and daughter Kathy died suddenly in 2014. She had a career as a lab assistant at the Wenatchee Valley Medical Center, a rdzt/source of great pride and satisfaction for her. After retirement she stayed active in her church and maintained many friendships. She traveled with her sister, Dorothea on cruises and bus trips. A week before her passing, she was still playing cards with her friend, Sophie Fieblekorn. The family thanks River West Retirement Community, who provided loving care and support for 10 years! During her time at River West, she stayed active, attending events, playing bingo, and knitting hundreds of hats for “The Hat Project”, a charity for needy children. Her funeral will be Saturday, October 8, at 10:30 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 1408 Washington Street. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Garden (c/o Grace Lutheran Church), where Marietta will be interred.
