Joseph L. Delia, Sr., age 83 of Norwalk, died peacefully at the Waveny Care Center on Sunday, July 22. He was the loving husband of the late Grace Bartoli Delia. Joe was born in Norwalk on March 25, 1935, the son of the late Angelo and Celina (Cardinal) Delia. He was a 1953 graduate of Norwalk High School, served in the National Guard and worked for many years as an electrician with Bartoli Electric. Joe was a devout member of St. Matthew Church since its inception. He was an avid Yankee fan, loved the beach and music and loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren’s activities. He was also a member of IBEW and NECA. Survivors include two daughters, Lorraine Watcke and JoAnn Shaughnessy, his son Joseph Delia, Jr. and his wife Terri, sister-in-law Claire Bartoli, all of Norwalk, 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his siblings Mary Valiante, Antoinette Honnessy, Frank Delia, Alyce Zullo and Margaret Mete. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Wednesday, July 25, at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery. Joe’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Tuesday from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to St. Matthew Church.
