Obituary for Johnny Ruth Walling Johnny Ruth Walling of Gardendale passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at age 87. She is survived by two daughters, Sheila Walling (Jim) Scott and Rita Walling (Michael) Baggett; three grandchildren, Tiffany (Jeremy) Burns, Magan (Tommy) Kidwell, and Zachary (Laura) Smith; three great grandchildren, Destiny Burns, Tenley Burns, and Everett Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, William Thomas “Bill” Walling, Jr.; one infant daughter, Lila Beth Walling; her parents, Carl and Nancy Brown; and one brother, Carl Brown, Jr. She was a longtime member of North Gardendale Church of Christ. Johnny retired from Jefferson County Board of Education after 27 years of service. The family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care and devotion given to them by the owners and staff of The Jacobs House in Hayden. Visitation will be Friday, July 20, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at The New Gardendale Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. A graveside service will be at Falkville Cemetery in Falkville, AL at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2018.
