Jerry Louis Dotson, II (Big JD) was born to Jerry Dotson, Sr. and his wife Muriel Dye Dotson, on December 15, 1985. He professed his faith in Christ early in life and joined the New Sardis Missionary Baptist Church, Memphis, Tennessee. Jerry’s family moved to Memphis, Tennessee from Houston, Texas, where he began his education in the Memphis City School System from elementary school to high school. Jerry went on to attend Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville, Mississippi. After a year of coursework studies at Northeast, Jerry decided to relocate to Newton, Kansas to attend college on a football scholarship and to pursue a degree in mass communication at Bethel College. Jerry loved, spending time with his children and family, music, playing football, DJaying, and rapping. He will be truly missed. His welcoming smile and a personality that could always capture anyone’s attention. If you were having a bad day, he was always someone that could give you something to smile about, whether it was by word or a deed. Jerry is survived by his devoted and loving parents; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Louis Dotson, Sr., of Memphis, Tennessee, Jerry and LaToya McLaurin have 3 beautiful and loving children to cherish his fond memories: Kayleb Jeremiah Norwood Dotson, Kailee Jade Hazzie Dotson and Kailyn Joanna Lucille Dotson; and one brother Rodriquez Taylor of Clarksville, Tennessee. He also leaves to cherish his loving maternal grandmother, Mrs. Hazzie Dye-Owens of Memphis, Tennessee; and two nieces Ayanna Zyshonne Taylor and Dicey Marie Taylor of Clarksville, Tennessee, one nephew, Zyshonne Taylor of Clarksville, Tennessee. His fraternal grandparents, Mr. Fred Dotson and His wife Mrs. Dicey Dotson, and his maternal grandfather Alonzo Dye, all preceded him in death.
