Obituary for Mr. Doston Ronald “Ron” Wilson The funeral service for Mr. Doston Ronald “Ron” Wilson, 76, of Piedmont, will be at 1 pm on Friday, July 6, 2018 at West Side Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Brother Steven Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Mr. Wilson and Jesus Christ won the battle against sin and death on July 1, 2018. He is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mr. Wilson was born in Collinsville, AL on the same property where his son, Todd, later lived. Ron was retired from Winn Dixie and was the co-owner of Valley Meats and Deli in Alexandria. He attended West Side Baptist Church for forty years where he served as a Yokefellow and cooked delicious Wednesday night meals that were loved by all. He was an avid cyclist and served on the Jacksonville Bicycle Advisory Community. Everything else in the world he did so he could go on his annual Wilson fishing trip to Steinhatchee, FL with his brothers, son, and grandsons. Mr. Wilson is preceded in death by his parents, Doston L. “Mutt” Wilson and Reba G. Bell Wilson. He is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Dorothy “Dot” Wilson; his brothers, Jerry Wilson of Saks and David Wilson (Maria) of Murphy, NC; his sons, Todd Wilson (Teresa) of Loganville, GA and Jerry Wayne Mobley (Stephanie) of Spring Garden; his daughters, Jodi Vandeberg (Kevin) of Madison and Jinny Ray (Kevin) of Homewood; his grandchildren, Tyler Wilson Foster of Gadsden, Jamie Bolton of Decatur, GA, Courtney Kobler of Pickens, SC, Katie Wilson of Loganville, Grey and Max Vandeberg, and Kaitlyn and Trip Morgan, all of Madison, Ella and William Ray of Homewood; and Brian Kelley and Keegan Mobley of Spring Garden; and three precious great grandchildren, Vayda Mae Clay of Alexandria and Gabriel and Landon Kobler of Pickens. Pallbearers will be Tyler Wilson Foster, Jamie Bolton, Brian Kelley, Nathan Kobler, Kevin Ray and Kevin Vandeberg. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Westside Baptist Church and Yokefellows, and the Jacksonville McDonald’s “Romeo” Club. Flowers will be accepted but Dot is requesting donations be made to the West Side Baptist Church Building Fund.
