Obituary for Amanda Smith Amanda Nicole (Gaul) Smith, age 28, of Reynoldsville, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital in DuBois, PA. She was born on June 12, 1990 to Thomas Joseph Gaul and Melissa Ann (Carlson) (Gaul) Moore in DuBois, PA. She attended Jeff Tech and graduated from the Nursing Assistant Program in 2008. She was the president of her class in 2008. Amanda went on to marry her husband, Matthew James Smith, on September 24, 2016 in Brookville, PA. She then began working at Christ the King Manor in DuBois, PA, Goodwill Industries, and Interim Health. She attended the Trinity United Church of Christ located in Troutville, PA. Amanda was a very outgoing and fun loving person, who knew how to live life to the fullest. She really enjoyed spending time with her husband Matt, family, and her friends. Whether that meant playing board games, watching movies, picnics, fishing, or a back yard campfire. She loved to travel and has been to so many places. Her favorites were the amusement parks, beaches and the different camping spots. She loved anything Disney and has been to Walt Disney World nearly twenty times. Amanda collected porcelain dolls that were mainly given to her by her dad and grandparents. She loved animals, especially butterflies and dogs. She rescued a special needs dog before being put down, and named him Remington Chance. Then back in October, Matt found a cat near their mailbox and they took him in calling him Gunner, who pounced right into her lap when first meeting. Amanda loved kids and wanted her own. She held a special place in her heart for her nieces Anna and Paisley. She enjoyed doing crafts and adult coloring books. She was also a phenomenal cook creating delicious meals for friends and family. She was a very compassionate care giver who loved all of her special clients. She fought cancer with grace and dignity, never letting it break her spirit even until the end. Amanda is survived by her husband; Matthew J. Smith of Reynoldsville, PA; her mother; Melissa A. and stepfather Harry G. Moore; one brother Dustin Craig Gaul of Delancey, PA; and two nieces; Anna and Paisley; as well as many other friends and family. She is preceded in death by her father; Thomas Joseph Gaul; and her paternal grandmother Elizabeth M. Huff. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 5, 2018, from 4pm – 8pm, at the Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E Main St, Reynoldsville, PA 15851. A second viewing will take place on Friday, July 6, 2018, from 10am – 11am, at the Trinity United Church of Christ, Hill St, Troutville, PA 15866. A funeral service will follow the second viewing beginning at 11:00am, and officiated by Pastor Audra Krise. Interment will take place at the Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Amanda’s name to the Trinity United Church of Christ, Hill St, Troutville, PA 15866.
