William O Keene 2018

William Oscar Reine Keene of Oakridge Or. Passed away on June 12, 2018 at the age of 90. He was born in Tampa, FL. June 16, 1927. He was the son of Joseph M. Keen and Texas Pauline (Howell) Keen. He was pre deceased by his brother Joseph M. Keen, Jr. William was a veteran of WWII and served honorably in the United States Navy onboard the USS Nicollet. After the war he moved to Klamath Falls, OR and married Carol Elaine Baker. They moved to Oakridge OR in 1963, they built and operated the A & W Restaurant in Oakridge for over 30 years. He also built A & W’s in Virginia and opened the first A&W/White Mountain Creamery in Fairfax, VA. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In 1968 he killed a trophy buck that is still listed in Boone and Crockett and is on display in Eugene, Or at Cabela’s. He was one of the first EMT’s certified by the state of Oregon and volunteered his time on the ambulance in Oakridge. He also enjoyed volunteering with the Commemorative Air Force serving as a flight engineer onboard the B-24, flying in air shows across the country. William is survived by his daughter; Lynn Rardin, son; David (Carla) Keene, grandchildren; Amy (Jason) Rardin. Nathan (Nikki), Nicholas, Nash (Kailey) Keene, Christopher (Crystal) Swanson. Great grandchildren, Cecelia, Cooper, Harper, Patton, Alden, Brody, Khia, Kaylan, Khayla, Joly. A graveside service will be held on June 23, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Forestvale Memorial Park in Oakridge.
