Shirley J Michaelis 2018

Shirley J. Michaelis, 88, of Marinette, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018, at Rennes Health Center-West in Peshtigo. She was born May 10, 1930 in Menominee to Emil and Eleanor Palmquist. Shirley resided in Marinette all of her life. She married Robert C. “Mick” Michaelis on February 7, 1948. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1998. Shirley was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church where she was very involved in the United Methodist Women and all church activities. For many years she chaired the funeral lunch committee at the church. She led an active life in the community and in the care of her home and yard on Pierce Avenue. In her younger years she enjoyed playing golf and participated in Ladies Day events. She loved trips to California to spend the Christmas holiday with her family and grandchildren. Shirley is survived by one son, John (Pamela) Michaelis of Redlands, Calif.; four granddaughters, Heather Michaelis, Hallie Swanson, Erin Michaelis and Carrie Espinosa; five great-grandchildren, Annie and Sophie Swanson, Vivianna, Noah and Sebastian Espinosa; as well as four sisters, Joyce Drys, Phyllis Horen, Diane Anderson and Beverly Pleshek. Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home in Marinette on Saturday, June 30, 2018, from 1 until 3 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
