Lover of nature, history, geology, and genealogy, avid gardener, and doomsday planner, despiser of carnival rides and ships, Ronald “Ron” (aka Honks) Walters passed away peacefully May 29, 2018. Born in Edmon Pennsylvania Ron, a.k.a. honks, member and occasional ringleader of the bony dump gang, was an adventurous and kind son of Harold and Olive Walters, deceased, brother to Lanny Walters of Ford city, PA , and Shirley Hammill of Avonmore, PA, and a friend to all. When not terrorizing the neighborhood, he excelled and graduated from Elders Ridge High School, then joined the Air Force. He met the love of his life, Jennie Durand Walters in high school, but she was smart, so it took some convincing. Finally Jennie said yes! Ron served our country further during his employment for the NSA, listening to us all and kicking Russian ass until he “retired”. He was the real 007–only better; he could sing. He was an avid hiker, spelunker, world traveler, expert conversationalist, and a lover of Jesus. A member of the Shrewsbury Assembly of God, he helped so many in any way possible, there’s simply not enough paper. His daughters Amy Martin, of Maryland, and Heidi Kessler, of Pennsylvania, flourished under his guidance. In addition, he is survived by six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Every one of his grandchildren can create a weapon using only hairspray and vegetables. In lieu of flowers, please donate to: the York County Library system. Memorial celebration will be held at: Shrewsbury Assembly of God, 234 N Main Street Shrewsbury, PA 17361, Saturday, June 2, 4-6 pm. In closing, some of his best advice: if you see a raccoon in daylight they probably have rabies. Do not approach a heron in the wild; or ever. Zucchini goes in anything. Ask yourself each morning-what good can I do for someone else today?
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Ronald Walters 2018. Zimmerman-Auer Funeral Home
