Obituary for Raymond Williams Shoup Jr. SHOUP, Raymond William Jr. – 74 Raymond William Shoup Jr., 74, of Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 11:55 p.m. at IU Health Arnett. Raymond was born on July 14, 1943 in Syracuse, NY to the late Raymond W. Shoup Sr. and Geneva (Babb) George. He served in the United Sates Army. Raymond owned and operated Shoup Contracting. He enjoyed fishing, feeding ducks, gambling, and playing cards. He loved to make sure everyone had something to eat. Raymond was a prankster, very sensitive, and compassionate. Surviving are six children, James Shoup (fiancé: Wendy) of West Lafayette, Laura Butler (fiancé: Brian) of Delphi, Mindy (Bradley) Davis of Lafayette, Paul (Sonya) Rivas of Lafayette, Chris Rivas of Brookston, Philip Hall of West Lafayette, and life partner, Angela Haselton of West Lafayette. Also surviving are 5 sisters, Carol (Dave Hard) Barrett, Robin (Don) Ripple, Melody (Claude) Norton, Bonnie (Tim Smith) Babcock, and Rosemary (Bob) Babcock, several nieces and nephews, 13 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one sister, Audrey “Sam” Weathers, one brother, Timothy George, step father, Vernon George, and one niece, Paula Dominick. Services to be held at a later date.
