Obituary for Mrs. Peaches Griffith Charles Mrs. Peaches Griffith Charles, 72, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018. Mrs. Charles was born July 17, 1945 in Bayou Chicot, Louisiana to the late Horace Griffith and Sadie Skinner Griffith. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Reverend J.B. Wilson of Morning Pilgrim Baptist Church. She attended James Stephens High School in Ville Platte, Louisiana and graduated in 1964. After high school, she met and married Herbert Charles and moved to Texas where she resided until her death. Herbert and Peaches were the proud parents of four children, Bridgett, Beatrice, Angela and Herbert Jr. They both united with Bell Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Zephaniah Phillips. Peaches was employed at Clear Lake Regional Hospital as a nurse’s assistant for 7 years, and was later employed at La Marque I.S.D. and Go Forth Elementary School in League City, as a cafeteria worker. Peaches later united with and was still a member until her death with Willing Workers Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James C. Carrington, Jr. She served in the Senior Saints Ministry. Peaches was a loving, very stern, dedicated and generous mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She enjoyed being with family. On Thursday, May 31, 2018, Peaches answered the call of her Heavenly Father with her family at her bedside. She is preceded in death by her husband,Herbert Charles, Sr.; two daughters: Beatrice and Angela; her parents: Horace Sr., and Sadie Griffith; six brothers, four sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Left to cherish her memories are her son Herbert Charles, Jr.; one daughter: Bridgett Denise Ford, both of Texas City; six grandsons: Robert Smith, Jr, Raymond Smith, both of Texas City, Joshua (LaQuida) Smith of Houston, Texas, Zebedee Peters, II, of Hitchcock, Texas, Gerald Ford of Texas City, and Morell Charles-Jenkins, of Texas City; one granddaughter, Miss Brittany Ford of Clear Lake, Texas; six greatgrands: Braden Keys, Gerald Ford, Jr., Sa’Riah Smith, and Zebedee Peters, III; two sisters: Eretta H. Blessett and Eula West both of Texas City, 2 brothers: Uylese (Ernestine) Griffith, of Dayton, Texas, and Horace Griffith, Jr., of Elton, Louisiana; two sister-in-laws: Gertie Mae Griffith and Mary Odelia Frank; three brother-in-laws: C.J. Charles, Lennis (Eloise) Charles, and Sherbert Charles; special and dear friends: Jackie Dean, Bennie Green, Clara (Sissy) Baldwin and Thelma, and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
