Pauline Riggs Barnett 2018

Pauline Riggs Barnett, 68, of Leicester, died on Monday, May 28, 2018, at her residence. A native of Weymouth, England, Pauline was a daughter of the late George and Beatrice Riggs. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Marlene Read and Betty Barnes; and brothers, Cliff Bridle and Fred Riggs. Remembered fondly as artistic, Mrs. Barnett worked for many years as a tailor, a skill for which she served an apprenticeship in England. She also held a deep love for animals. Over the course of her lifetime, she has cared for poodles, llamas, horses, turkeys, geese, chickens and pigeons. She particularly enjoyed the aviary her husband, Karl, built for her in the home. She was a loving, kind and considerate woman who cherished her life. She was funny, and spared no one her wonderful British wit. She was a truly kind human being! She always made a difference in everything she did with and for her friends an family. She will be truly loved and missed! Mrs. Barnett is survived by her husband, Karl Barnett; sister, Peggy Croad; brothers-in-law, Andy Croad and Peter Read; and three nephews, Adrian, Mark and Allen Read. The graveside service for Mrs. Barnett will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Barnett Cemetery on Mr. and Mrs. Barnett’s property. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, 31 Glendale Ave., Asheville, NC 28803.
