Pastor Gary Legg, 59, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 7:11 PM Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO. The… Read More » family is being served by the James O’Donnell Funeral Home of Hannibal, MO. Pastor Legg was born August 23, 1958, in San Jose, CA to T.L. Legg and Joy Farris Legg Daniel He was married to Michelle Dawson on August 15, 1981 in Weedpatch, California. She survives. Other survivors include his mother, Joy Daniel of Beebe, Ark.; two children, Rita Wicker (Chad) of Belleview, FL and Steven Legg of Hannibal, MO; one brother, Randy Legg of Beebe, Ark.; one sister, Michelle French (Dale) of Lake Eufaula, OK; and three grandchildren, Austin Wicker, Alex Wicker, and Dawson Wicker. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Pastor Legg was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. Pastor Legg was the Pastor at the New Life Pentecostal Church of Hannibal, formerly known as Apostolic Holiness Church. Prior to moving to Hannibal with his wife, Michelle, Pastor Legg was the Pastor at the Word of Life Pentecostal Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for 18 1/2 years while also serving as the District Superintendent of the State of South Dakota for 13 years. Away from work Pastor Legg loved to exercise. He recently took up running as a hobby. At the age of 55 Pastor Legg ran his first marathon and was currently training to run in his fifth marathon, the Chicago Marathon this fall. A master griller, Pastor Legg treated his family many times with his cooking talents and he especially enjoyed preparing his famous cinnamon toast for his grandsons. Pastor Legg enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, playing basketball with the guys from church, reading in his study or spending time with his grandsons that were the apple of his eye. Pastor Legg put his Lord, family and church first and always treasured the time he shared with friends and family. Pallbearers will be Greg Cassaday, Ryan Cassaday, Nathan Armstrong, Trey Martin, Jake Wallace, and Sam Closser. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Green, Tony Weldy, Scott Love, Wilson Fessenden, Wayne Smith, and Michael Niffen. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Life Pentecostal Church Building Fund.
