Obituary for Pamela Poovey (Reid) Pamela Poovey age 57, of Granite Falls, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Frye Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born May 23, 1961 in Burke County, daughter of Betty Brooks Reid and the late William “Bill” Reid. Pam was a substitute teacher for Caldwell County School System for 16 years and later a contract worker for Google. She dedicated her life to raising her two wonderful boys and grandchildren. Pam was a one of a kind daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was of the Church of God faith. Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Justin Wayne Poovey of Charlotte and Jacob Lee Poovey (Katelyn) of Conover; two grandchildren, Annaleigh Rose Poovey and Jarrison Lee Poovey; father of her children, Edmund Poovey; her mother Betty Reid of Granite Falls; two sisters, Vicky Jane Ester (Terry) and Shirley Reid Estes (Chris) both of Granite Falls; several nieces and nephews. Pam wished to thank her lifelong friend, Twyla Starnes Myers, for her everlasting love and support. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Mackie Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. A Graveside Service will be at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church Friday, June 29, 2018, at 6:00 PM with Rev. Jordan Swink officiating.
