Nancy Lee Dobisky-Vaisey of St. Albans former native of Ogdensburg, New York, died Sunday, June 24, at her home in St. Albans after a valiant battle with colon and liver cancer. Born December 13, 1952 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of the late Edwin L. and Willis P. Dobisky, Nancy graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1971. She later earned an Associate’s Degree in 1973 at Canton ATC. Nancy worked with her family at The Surprise Store in downtown Ogdensburg, which was managed byher father. She moved to the Plattsburgh, NY, area in 1979. Nancy worked in production at the public television station there, later moving to Vermont where she worked in the administrative offices of the U.S. Border Patrol. On July 2, 2009, on the shores of Lake Champlain in St. Albans, Vermont she married the love of her life, Gerald F. Vaisey. They had been together 30 years at that point and one of the memorable moments of that ceremony came when the Justice of the Peace asked Jerry if he took Nancy to be his lawful wedded wife and he answered, “I do” and said it 30 times. When it came to Nancy’s turn, she replied, “I do – 30 times.” They made a life together in St. Albans and were volunteers in the community, including Franklin County Citizen Advocacy, and Ladies of St. Ann. Nancy is survived by her beloved husband, Jerry, a brother, Frank Dobisky of Keene, NH, a cousin, Ann Caufield-O’Connor and John, Angela Caufield-Daley, and Matt of Ogdensburg, a sister-in-law, Carol Martin, a nephew Andrew Dobisky of Clinton, Mass., a niece, Dakota Martini of Philadelphia, Pa., Rick and Kim Caufield of Bristow, VA., and Bill and Kim Caufield of Cohoes, New York. She is beloved by her six stepchildren: Franklin R. Vaisey, Rosilie E. Olmstead, Diana L Gotham, Julie L. Vaisey, and Rebecca A. Vaisey all from St. Lawrence County, New York and Stephen C. Vaisey in Michigan. Additionally she loves her nineteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. The family will receive condolences on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel. At 7:30 PM, there will be a time of sharing of memories and how Nancy touched the many lives of those here in Vermont. On Monday, July 2, 2018, there will be visiting hours from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM being held at the O’Leary Funeral Service, 5821 US Highway 11, Canton, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s Church in Canton, NY. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorials made in Nancy’s name, may be made to the Franklin County Animal Rescue, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, VT 05478, or to the Ladies of St. Anne, 248 Lake Street, St. Albans, VT 05478.
